If it does not seem right to you, you can tell a trainer to stop!

Some training methods that are used are inappropriate and harmful. I have many clients who report they felt uncomfortable with the methods being used to “train” their dog, but assumed the trainer knew what they were doing. If  you ever feel uncomfortable with any method being used, you have every right, and in fact, the responsibility, to step in and stop the training session.

Below is a link to an article about a local trainer convicted of cruelty.

  1. Thanks for the post. I think most new dog owners trust dog trainers and think they might not know best. I think people need to listen to their gut feelings, because you do know more than you think!

  2. Yes, I wish more dog owners would stop the violent dog trainers.

  3. Yes you can but there is more to this story. Actually their vet put the couple in contact with Loy. Loy then presented a bogus law saying that if the dog is aggressive he can report it and have it removed.Loy wnet so far as to say he was one of the people that sat on the board that created the NJ bite law.he stated he had the power and authority to have the dog put down. he left several messages to that effect as well as threats to sue.
