If your rabbit is showing aggression, it is imperative that you bring your rabbit to the veterinarian for a thorough physical exam. Because rabbits are prey species, it is normal for them to try to hide any pain or illness. Anytime any animal does not feel well, they can be more irritable and hence aggressive. If your veterinarian gives your rabbit a clean bill of health, then it needs to be determine if the aggression is more fear based, territorial based etc….Once this is determined, an appropriate behavior modification plan and environmental enrichment plan can be put in place.
For anyone who has a pet rabbit, being able to safely interact with them is important in maintaining the human-animal bond and maximizing the quality of life for the rabbit.
