Foraging Fun

Lots of people know that their pet dogs need mental stimulation and that one way to help increase mental stimulation is to have them forage for their meals or snacks. What about our pet cats?? They need mental stimulation too!!

There are several foraging devices that can be purchased but there are also some clever devices cat owners can make themselves. Trust me on this – you really do not need to have any engineering skills. I certainly don’t but have made several foraging devices for my cats over the years.

The picture above is simply a bunch of paper towel rolls stacked and glued together in a pyramid form. I then cut out squares in random places. Treats can be placed inside the rolls and the cats can try to get the treats through the open needed paper towel roll or the cut squares. I saw this somewhere and loved the idea so I thought I would pass it along to other cat lovers.

If any of you have ideas for creative foraging toys, post comments about them so we can all learn.

We all need to do our parts in making sure pet cats have enriched lives!
